A standard lens designed to be used with relatively compact full-frame mirrorless cameras, this lens strikes a balance between an easy-to-carry size and high optical performance to make it easy to use as a single focal length lens for everyday use. The Contemporary line embodies the development concept of “pursuit of optimum balance,” and is the first in a series of lenses designed exclusively for full-frame mirrorless cameras.

Product name: Lenses with an image circle designed for 35mm-format cameras are designated “DG,” while lenses designed for mirrorless cameras with a short flange back are designated “DN” in the product name.

This product pays particular attention to the expression of bokeh. Spherical aberration is controlled so that not only the bokeh in front of and behind the subject, but also the area close to the focal point, the so-called “fine bokeh” or “small bokeh” area, is softly blurred. By softly blurring the periphery of the blurred image, the lens suppresses two-line blur and enhances the three-dimensional effect of the subject by smoothly rendering the foreground and background. In addition, the minimum focusing distance of 24cm allows photographers to enjoy making the most of the angle of view for snapshots and table photos.
